The final boss of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Sephiroth, who you have to beat across multiple phases in many different forms. The one-winged angel appears once you defeat the Jenova Lifeclinger boss, challenging not just Cloud but many other characters from the story. With his own Summon and plenty of resistances, it can be hard to anticipate what you need to do during each stage of this battle.
As you get Sephiroth’s health to 0, he will launch into the air and send a slash down that splits the arena in two, sending Zack spiralling away as he shouts to Cloud to continue the fight. Sephiroth then morphs into a gigantic, altered form more in line with that of his mother. After completing this first phase against Sephiroth, you’ll begin the Sephiroth Reborn phases of the boss fight. Check out our dedicated Sephiroth Reborn boss fight guide page for more details on this section of the battle.
During Phase 3, if Sephiroth has the Fire Infusion, he will also begin casting Flamewall, which splits the area into two parts with a giant wall of fire. Switch between characters to make sure you are managing their ATB gauges, but keep in mind that Sephiroth can instantly close the gap to any character, and he can create long-distance shockwaves of dark energy by quickly swinging his sword, so even far-away characters aren’t safe. Sephiroth will also aggressively target whichever character you are controlling, so try to spend most of your time with Cloud to maintain the ability to counter Sephiroth’s attacks with Punisher Mode.
How to beat Sephiroth Reborn with Cloud in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Towering over you, he resembles one of the gigantic angelic bosses in Bayonetta – technically, he’s riding on top of a giant statue of himself. He fortunately has a glaring weak spot at the bottom of his body so you just need to charge in and attack it. Sephiroth Reborn will use Maelstrom to blow you away with a gust from his angel wings, as well as Whisper Vortex, where he slams his arm down and creates cyclones.
