Leviathan moves around a lot, so be wary of when you unleash abilities and Limit Breaks on it. Try to wait until it’s staggered to use a Limit Break. Here are some specific tips for each of its attacks: Briny Bellow: This is a line attack – the further away you are, the harder it will be to dodge it, so block it. If you’re up close to Leviathan, simply position yourself behind it. Briny Barrage: This long-range missile attack is, again, difficult to dodge – guard it instead.
Most players will encounter Leviathan for the first time in Chapter 13, 14, or 16, so it’s common to encounter Leviathan with Cloud, Barret and Tifa. However, it’s possible to battle Leviathan with any party. The best way to fight Leviathan with your chosen party is to finish the main story, then return to Chapter 17. You’ll meet Chadley near the start, and he’ll allow you to try any of the VR Missions with your chosen group of 3 characters. This Equipment and Materia list takes into account what Equipment and Materia a player in Chapter 13 will have. When fighting Leviathan later in the game, you may want to adjust to use Equipment with higher stats.

Leviathan is weak to electricity but resistant to ice and fire attacks. To take down Leviathan, stay away from non-electricity magic and elemental summons. The boss is also immune to most effects. Be careful not to spam lightning too hard, or you’ll run out of MP in a fight where Cure is effectively required.

Enemy IntelLeviathan is an optional boss in Final Fantasy VII Remake fought in Chadley’s VR mission after completing Battle Intel missions 1–14, first available in Chapter 13, « A Broken World ». The player can take it on with the party of Cloud, Tifa, and Barret. The earliest Leviathan is available, the battle may be too hard to complete. Defeating Leviathan in Chadley’s VR mission earns it as a Summoning Materia. Leviathan is also fought in the gauntlet up to Pride and Joy Prototype in the Shinra Combat Simulator in Chapter 17, « Deliverance from Chaos », in hard mode.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake features a whole host of summons for the player to make use of, but some are far more difficult than others to unlock. Each summon requires a boss fight which can be started by speaking with the kid that gives the Stagger Effect quest, Chadley. Though optional, Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s summons can turn the tide of battle when in a rough spot, and Leviathan is no exception to that rule. As the third available summon boss fight in the game, he is no pushover either, so players will need to prepare properly before taking him on. Close your distance while guarding when on ground to rack up the stagger gauge, and while mid-air, reposition to have a clear shot around the water cyclone.
